THE GLIMMERS @ GEE GEE FAZZI RELEASE
With Dopplehertz DJs. Thu, Sep 25. Wrongbar, 1279 Queen W. $10 with limited advance tickets at Wantickets.com.
Belgians Mo and Benoelie, a.k.a. The Glimmers, have long had an experimental, punk-funky take on house and techno, as heard on early mixes for labels like R&S and Eskimo. Officially adopting the tag The Glimmer Twins in 2003, and shortening it a year later, the duo have since mixed killer comps for prominent series such as DJ Kicks and Fabriclive, and remixed the likes of Bloc Party and Calvin Harris. Their new debut album, The Glimmers Are Gee Gee Fazzi, is being exclusively given away at their gigs.

KEVIN SAUNDERSON @  RANDOMLAND

With Miss Kitten and The Hacker, Andycapp, more. Fri, Sep 26. CiRCA, 126 John. $15 from Rotate This, Soundscapes, Play De Record, Ticketweb.ca.
I cannot stress enough what an amazing experience it is to hear Detroit’s Kevin Saunderson spin. This founding father of techno has put out new releases steadily since 1985, moving easily between hard, metallic beauty and the techno-pop smashes he crafted as Inner City. He is absolutely relentless when in the mix. This party also marks the first joint set in T.O. by Miss Kittin & The Hacker in years, and brings us the debut of nü-disco party Superflight in the Skyy Cinema space.

MANSION @ SPORT PIG

With DJs Vaneska, St. Mandrew, Nasty Nav, more. Fri, Sep 26. The Bright Pearl, 346 Spadina. $10.
After a year on hiatus, Pink Mafia’s Sport Pig party returns. Sport Pig has a history of championing T.O. talent, with this all-local bill headlined by new blog-house darlings Mansion. Already creating a stir thanks to originals like “Stab” and their hooky take on MSTRKRFT’s “Bounce,” Mansion are DJ/producers Barletta (Hans Edquist) and Van Helder (Violca Yryku). Barletta’s ‘90s rap–rave-influenced remixes have gotten support from producers like Crookers and Steed Lord, while Van Helder is best known as a former member of Fritz Helder and the Phantoms.

RENE AMESZ @ LITTLE MOUNTAIN ROCKS CD RELEASE

With DJs Simon Jain, Anthony D’Amico, Jason Myles. Sat, Sep 27. Footwork, 425 Adelaide W. $20.
My interest in the music of Rotterdam DJ and producer Rene Amesz may be recent — I heard his gutsy remix of Tom Stephan’s “Shake It Baby” and that was that — but the former footballer has a decade-long history in dance music. Amesz has released numerous EPs of deep, dirty and perfectly sparse techno and house on labels including Nu Republic and Sander Kleinenberg’s Little Mountain Recordings, and has even remixed Danny Tenaglia. Here, Amesz supports the first in a series of Little Mountain mix CDs.
